True, content is what will bring most visitors in naturally. However, the paid links suggestion is more intended for those who don't run a blog, or post to their blog infrequently, and basically have just static content. In that case, it's hard to attract page views and visitors without fresh, compelling content, essentially, you have to rely solely on in-links.

I do not agree with the paid links suggestion, I am not a blogging expert but I think the good content attracts links automatically though it takes some time. But yes paid links also works and that is why we see all those ads out there, but solely relying on paid links will not be good. Good suggestions overall.

Yep! That's one of the most important things to remember. Your website won't immediately get traffic. It takes time to build a following, and more importantly, it takes time to get ranked in the search engines. Search is organic. As your website grows, it penetrates deeper into the far reaches of the internet, and your search engine rankings will grow with it. So will your visitors.
